Beyond Google - The Value Of Adding Yahoo & Bing - Part 2 Previously, we looked at whether or not it was worthwhile going after rankings in Bing and Yahoo since Google delivers the higher search clickthrough potential by far. We'll now expand on just a few reasons why it makes so much sense to include rankings in the other search engines. SEARCH ENGINE VALUE - IT DOESN'T REALLY COST MORENOTE: I'm approaching this subject from an Organic Rankings perspective (my area of specialized skills). It's possible it may have different effects for other categories of SEO (backlink specialists, social media experts, PPC management, etc). You can check with your own optimization services as to whether or not they need to use alternate or additional methods for ranking gains in the additional search engines. There's a common misconception that every search engine requires its own separate way for a website to be optimized. While it's true that each SE may have their own algorithm or preferred ranking criteria, that doesn't automatically mean what is good for one search engine isn't useful in the others. When a site is optimized properly to keep the wider range of search engines happy, rather than placing all your eggs in one basket to feed a single specific search engine, you can gain good ranking placements in almost all of them. Since you're doing a single primary optimization that will be received well in each of the search engines, you can now submit to all of them for nice ranking gains regardless of which SE searchers prefer to personally use. You've just consolidated your main SEO costs to gain placements across the board rather than allocating separate funds for each individual search engine. Yes there are different categories of SEO which may help boost specific rankings further, but for cost value, we want to make sure you get your biggest ROI bang for your buck by reaching the widest range of potential customers first. That will generate the best long term return for the smallest initial investment.
